Taking engagement photos surrounded by some of the best art in the world sounds like a pretty good way to spend an evening.

I cannot believe that, in my 8 years of photographing couples professionally, I’d never been to the Walters Art Museum in the Mt. Vernon neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland. This place is officially now one of my go-tos.

While Baltimore has two renowned art museums, the Walters is the only one that is completely free to visit and let’s you take photos inside of. You, of course, can’t use flash of any kind but the natural light that pours in through the museum’s skylights makes up for any lack of light you might be concerned about. And, finally, being surrounded by so much beautiful as well as the ornate, Victorian-style architecture in the surrounding neighborhood – what more could you ask for from a session location?!

Ashley & Nick were an absolutely joy and we were able to take our time as we explored the museum room by room. From there, we paid one final stop to a restaurant around the corner that the two had one of their first dates at. What fun!
